"Laraelra Thundreth," Crystal repeated by way of getting her tongue used to the interesting arrangement of syllables, "better referred to as Captain. "Well, if the drinks are as good as you, then what's the harm in having a few?"
She watched the tender move through his duties. "I've been to a few gambling halls, but I'll admit this the first I've been that was also a ship. I like it here already; I think I could get used to getting rich on this boat. And what do you know, maybe I'll find someone who I can beat out of their skirt, and make them like it."

No need to announce themselves. That was a sure way to get killed, now. Vincent nodded, listening on, but this was very much out of his element.
"I think a drink to start would be good." Have a seat, listen to gossip around the room... "Umn, are dead seagulls the norm on your deck?" He spoke to the Captain, concern in his voice.

Listening to others, the little mouse would oh so slightly peek out of the pocket. Just for a minute.

The Captain was listening and chuckling at Crystal. "The high rollers are becoming more infrequent these days. Seems like the clientele is changing these days..." She shrugged and reached over to pick up her drink, then arched an eyebrow at Vincent.
"Dead seagulls? No, we keep a... oh hell, it's happened again." The Captain scowled and stood up, eyes scanning the deck. "Hey! Alfonse! Get Muller, we need the top deck scrubbed again."
One of the bouncers nodded and ducked down the stairs leading deeper into the ship and the Captain shook her head, settling back down. "Pardon the mess. Something's out there killing the birds and dropping them on our deck. I'd say an osprey or some other bird of prey, 'cept they always leave the bodies behind. Bloody strange omen, though nothing's come of it yet..."

"Omens huh? That's been goin' around lately." Jinn rolled his shoulder. "Least you got birds- you heard about the corpses at Insight? What a time to be alive, man." Jinn sucked his teeth and looked the group over as he spoke. He knew what he was doing- playing casual as he namedropped the park, insinuated the facts, and cooly checked the general atmosphere in the room.
(Can I roll some kind of vibe check? Insight: 14)

Didn't want too many cooks in the kitchen. With the others speaking up, Rey played the part of tall, scaly, and broody, continuing to watch the clientele while she listened.

Oh, nice bait, Jinn, Crystal thought as the park was namedropped.
"You sure it's a bird? Killing for sport isn't something I know many prey animals to do, that sounds something like a human or evil elf or something would do. I'd almost say not to clean it up, watch and wait to see what happens with it, but you've got a business to run. Ever thought about sparing a guy to keep the air clear?" She mimed pulling back and releasing a bow.

Jinn looked around the room and found a rougher atmosphere than the one at Elfsong. The clientele were rowdy and aggressive, but largely respecting the rules of the games they played and the tavern they drank in. Laughter drifted up from the deck below - more patrons, more games. There was something else too, something about the people that Jinn couldn't quite put his finger on. Nothing wrong, but something that left him somewhat ill at ease.
"Corpses are showing up everywhere these days, friend," the Captain said to Jinn. "People aren't meant to be crammed so close together, with no place to go. Mind yourself - folks 'round here are antsy in the best of times, to say nothing of desperate times."
She took another sip of her drink before turning to Crystal. "Feel free to inspect 'em yourself if you don't believe me, but they ain't been killed by arrow or bolt. Used to keep someone up to try and find what's killing 'em, but none showed up dead 'till we pulled the guy back down. Not gonna pay someone to sit on their tail all day, not doin' anything."

"They just... show up dead?" Well, that was unsettling. Vincent folded his arms, uncomfortable, but what else could he really do? "Bad omens indeed."

"Just show up dead, huh?" He finished his glance around the room. Something was off about this for sure. He did the best thing he could to help keep his pocket mouse safe- ignore the wiggling to not bring attention to her. He instead reached to his coin purse- booze wasn't free after all.
"If I didn't know better, I'd say someone was tryna make the place look bad. A couple birds aint nothin to shut a place down, but y'know. Death by a thousand cuts." He sniffed and began counting. "How much for the round, Cap?"

The Captain shrugged. "When they show up, we swab them off the deck. It's an annoyance, but not a terrible one. And that'll be five silver a mug."
As though on cue, the bartender set down a tankard for each of them on the table beside the captain.

Rey frowned. That was a decent chunk of change, depending on what was actually being served. Granted, she was used to seedy gambling dens where you either got practically water or the hard stuff.
Welp. It wasn't her paying. She might chip her share back later, but Jinn had already pulled his money out. She'd wait until coin had changed hands before taking her tankard.

Crystal was surprised that Jinn would pony up the money, as she was the one who put in the orders. She gave him an appreciative nod, and much the same to the tender with an easy smile as she sipped. After gauging the strength of her drink, she looked about to the other tables.
"So, up here are copper and silver players, huh? Let's see how good the gaming is before I dedicate myself to playing Craps for ten gold a toss," she said before lifting her mug to the group and going to watch-- and eventually likely join-- some card games. What booth was looking hot, what gambler just was not?

Vincent frowned at the price, but it made sense. The city was on lock down, and there was a higher supply and demand.
Once they were paid for, he'd take his and give it a sip. How watered down was it?
