Vincent walked right along with his companions, moving along until the display of dead seagulls gave him a pause. Then the squawk of crows from the crow's nest of all places drew his attention up. Unsettled, his pause only lasted barely a moment, as he quickly followed after the others.
(Wis save: 19)
"Dead seagulls? That's unsanitary." He whispered to the others, a deep frown on his face.

There were crumbs at the bottom of the pocket.
I'm not really a mouse.
She was pretty sure they were from a muffin.

Jinn looked about the deck of the ship. It wasn't much to look at- dead birds, no real decorum. Cry's pulled his attention away before he returned the thumbs up. The sound of revelry was... Welcome. It cut the tone and reminded Jinn he was in his element.
With a cocked brow he turned his attention up to the black birds above and grinned. "Ahh man, it's gonna be a good day." He laughed and elbowed Vincent, who was staring at said birds, gently in the ribs. "Y'know crows are good luck, Vinny. I got a good feelin' about this."
Jinn made the sound of a light caww to get the birds attention. In his mind he was wishing the murder a good morning before descending the stairs.

Rey shrugged. "Eh, it's a ship. Seagulls are frickin' rats anyways." Like Jinn, she seemed interested in the liveliness they could hear, but she gave the rest of the group a look before they headed down.
"Be real careful who you talk to and what you say. We'n already on some notice, and I guarantee you people who know them are here. Don't mention who we are, where we staying. Rumors are safe. Play up that we just got stuck in the city with the caravan, and what a shit show is going on. Folks love to complain."

To Vincent's casual glance, the seagull corpses looked disconcertingly fresh. The crows went quiet as Jinn called up to them, and then one of them threw it's head back and began cawing raucously.
Almost as though it were laughing.
Jinn led the way down the narrow stairway to a lantern-lit deck that reeked of sweat, cheap ale, rotting timbers, and old vomit. Turning passed a set of doors labeled 'Captain's Quarters,' Jinn led the way into the taproom proper. It was busy, even this early in the day, with sailors and dockhands getting drunk and gambling, for lack of work due to the city shutdown. There were cards and dice games going on at almost every table, and burly bouncers scattered about keeping an eye on things.
A woman sat at the end of the bar with a large crab seated on her shoulder, chatting with one of the bouncers, and another staircase across the deck led down to the next level.

"Crows? Good luck??" He jumped at the one that started 'laughing' and quickly followed after Jinn. The sooner they got what they wanted out of this place, the better. "What the hell kind of upbringing did you have to say crows are good luck?"
The woman with the crab on her shoulder got his attention, and he had to do a double take with the crab. A crab? Don't they need to breathe water??? He was growing concerned, confused, and frightened. No, he didn't like this at all.

No, she would not eat the pocket crumbs. Instinct was strong, but she knew this boy, and there was no telling how old they were. Or what they were from.
Instead she cuddled down, listening to Rey's instructions and the debate as to whether or not crows were lucky.

"Raised in a barn, but I grew up on the road, Vin. You follow the wagon riders and the people who live out there an' they'll tell ya: Crows is good people. They'll warn ya if there's trouble, they'll laugh with ya if you're bein' an ass. An' sometimes they'll bring ya good news, if ya listen good." He patted Vincent's chest with the back of his hand, half grinning.
Looking out into the bar, that grin stayed glued on his face. Big dudes bouncing, drunk dudes throwing money away at the table, beer that smelled like beer, and... The grin faded as he saw the crab. That... was a choice. He did some mental math- was that lady like the halfling back at Saltmarsh? the one with the judgy toad? He shook his head and tried not to look at the creature's legs. Damn thing belonged steamed on a platter, not moving about making bubbles and junk.
His day wasn't ruined. Turning about, he looked to his allies and looked for a place to sit. "There's a lotta drinkin' an' card-sharkin'. Maybe we find a place to sit an' keep our ears open?" He glanced at the bar and thumbed. "I'll grab a couple rounds and ask if there's anythin' open?"

"Don't just stand there gawping," the woman with the crab called over to the Lucky Hand as she gestured them forward. "Come in, come in. If you're thirsting for a beverage or looking to gain some coins, you've come to the right place. Just watch your step and don't leave a mess you can't clean up."

Rey raised an eyebrow at the crab woman, especially as she called them out, but simply gave a shrug and continued scanning the room, letting Jinn take the lead. She wanted to keep an eye out for any heavy players, anyone who seemed "in the know", or who others were deferring or deflecting to. Or avoiding. (Insight: 19)
"Just....don't go in too strong." She muttered to Jinn.

"I'll go with you, to help take the drinks," she said while moving in. Going straight to the bartender, she motioned her head to the crab.
"I don't think I've ever seen quite a pet, familiar, or companion." She motioned her head to her group. "I'll have one drink for me and each of my mates, something... midshelf, maybe? I think I'd like some spiced rum with a juice, if you've got that sort of thing."

Rey scoped out the floor and quickly picked out the three bouncers positioned around the room. The woman at the counter lounged with the ease of someone at home in the tavern, while the diners and gamblers that she saw seemed... normal. Common, even. Which suggested that this wasn't the place the high rollers spent their time - that was likely on the next deck down.
"Mm, they come in all shapes," the woman said, motioning to the bartender. He nodded and began gathering some mugs. "I'm Laraelra Thundreth, but folks 'round here call me Captain - which is about right, seeing as I own this place. Sounds like you've got specific tastes - you came to the right place to wet your lips. Won't find a better selection of drinks anywhere in Wachovia, these days. At reasonable prices," she added with a grin, that suggested they might not be so 'reasonable'.

Well, the atmosphere here was... weird. Not as warm and inviting as the Elfsong. More rough around the edges. Vincent nodded to the Captain, as they made their way in.
"I'm not sure how much we're going to get out of this place, but it's worth a try." He whispered, and shrugged.

Jinn watched as the Captain headed to grab some mugs, quickly regaining his sense of mirth in the face of crab. With a nod he glanced around, sliding his hands to his hips. "Well damn, I already like the place." He gestured to Crys. "I think I agree- somethin' mid shelf so we can hang around for a good long while. Kill time on account of the slim pickin's elsewhere in the city. Captain's choice?" He looked toward Laraelra a friendly grin.
Something was already off about this whole arrangement. According to their informant, this place was run by someone else...
