Vanya carefully took her herbalist's kit and the tools within, giving her an edge as she gingerly plucked not only the blossoming flowers, but the vines they were attached to. The flowers, poisonous as they were, could only be bundled so tightly lest the oils and harmful components begin seeping into the fabric of her bag. With that in mind, she took the finest specimens, and only as much as her bag could safely carry. A few minutes later, the pouch was full and reeking of lemons.
(For brevity, Vanya gains 100gp worth of Moonflower to use as reagents.)

"Oh! Excellent!" Vanya carefully bundled the flowers and carefully stowed them. "Actually, I found some Moonflower - an unexpected discovery, but dangerous if mishandled!"
Once the flowers were secured, she carefully made her way over to Verdi. "They can be poisonous if you aren't too - oh look at these!" She clasped her hands together and smiled. "They're beautiful!"

"Moonflower? Oh. Well, that should be useful." As she came over after stowing away the other flowers, they gestured to the findings. Yes, as beautiful as you are in this moonlight... He though, a tinge of warmth coming to his cheeks. His tail swayed behind him, and he stood back up to let her harvest them.
"How dangerous? You... smell like lemons."

"Moonflower is very aromatic," Vanya said as she approached the flowers and retrieved her kit to carefully take samples, hoping to transplant some of these as well. (Dirty 20!)
"I'm so glad we came out here tonight... thank you so much for taking me here!"

Vanya carefully sliced the four stalks one by one to take the blooms and a small portion of the stems. The motion was neat and practiced, and not a single petal was harmed in the process. As she placed the blooms into her pouch, she would notice milky fluid pooling and leaking down the cut stems. She could also detect a vegetal smell like strong cut grass.
The glow of the flowers was dulled by the fabric container.

Vanya carefully wrapped the stems in spare cloth to prevent the fluid from leaking too much. "I'd suggest this to be our special place, but the flowers deserve to be shared. With people who would not over-harvest them, of course. If these plants can make it to New Haven, I may be able to transplant them..."
Once the flowers were set aside, Vanya smiled at Verdi. "I think we should head back. This has been a bountiful excursion."

"Mmmmn." Verdi glanced around, but nodded. "Don't want to be gone for too long. They'll send a search party."
He chuckled, and held his hand out to her. "Between this, and the mushrooms, I think you have plenty of ingredients to keep busy."

Vanya's smile warmed further and a bit of blush touched her cheeks as she reached out and took Verdi's hand. "I do. I have some thoughts in mind... and if there's anything you'd like for your adventures, please let me know. I need to stretch my understanding of herbalism and alchemy. I feel that Auntie Edith can open up about some of the more... esoteric uses for such things, now that we have greater honesty between us."

For her part, Natasha plodded about the stream's edge and occasionally meandered toward the treeline. Here and there she pawed at the ground, or stretched high to plant her paws on a tree trunk and scratch deep gouges in the bark.
Stratus was keen to explore. Yet, despite keeping his distance, he occasionally meandered closer to Natasha- sometimes giving her looks from a tree branch, or crossing her path. Never quite within claw's reach, of course...

Speaking of honesty... Verdi bit his lip, thinking. Should he just say it now? It was such a nice, quiet spot, and who knows if he would get the opportunity again before New Haven. If he would. Sure, he had the gift for her, and could just go with that plan but... She almost seemed like she wanted him to tell her something.
"Y-yes... Umn." Suddenly things weren't going as smoothly as they were in his mind, and he hesitated.

He was like a deer, startled and ready to run, but he squeezed her hand back. Maybe she already knew, and was just waiting for him to finally speak up about it. Verdi took a deep breath, and sighed, smiling.
"I really wanted to tell you in New Haven, but... This is quite a nice place..."

Vanya cocked her head to one side, watching Verdi and giving him space to speak. Even though she suspected what he was going to say, she still felt a fluttering in her chest that she tried to ignore.
