Romantic? Yes. Very much so. He kinda fell quiet for a bit, not sure what to say.
"Umn... so the flowers that bloom at night... what do you need them for?"

"Oh, a variety of things. There are certain potions and powders that react to darkness - such things can only be harvested while the plants bloom at night. Just keep your eyes open for any flowering flora, and we can examine them for viability."
Vanya side-eyed Verdi, head cocked - gauging how he seemed to be feeling. (Insight: 11)

He wasn't really trying to hide how he felt. Verdi seemed just happy to be here, maybe a little nervous. He wanted to focus on the task, so he kept his eyes out for what Vanya was looking for.
"Oh, that's interesting. Reacting to darkness... What do they exactly do?" He glanced to her, ears perked as he showed interest in the conversation.

Vanya considered. "Most are natural supplements of some kind. Enhance your senses, stimulate blood flow, increase your stamina... but I've read that they can also be used in mixtures to provide illumination in dark places, or create sudden sparks of bright light when mixed with some other items. Certain salves as well, used in dark places."
Vanya shrugged with a little laugh. "I have found there is a use for almost everything in nature. It is simply a matter of application."

Verdi nodded, smiling. "Yes, there is a lot that nature provides, and discoveries still to be made. It's really amazing... Like the spores for communication. I... don't know what the long term affects could be from doing that too often, but to... connect your mind between creatures is... well, it's a bit invasive but... if you're expecting it, that's different."

"I think it could be a unique experience," Vanya agreed. "Although... perhaps not one to be rushed into. Despite what M'Banje claims." She laughed again and brushed her free hand against Verdi's.
"It might be worth experimenting with, in a calmer setting."

((A nature or survival check may be made to find viable lunar-blooming flora. You may also delegate instructions to familiars, if you so choose, but you'll be relying on their checks.))

"Ah, yeah... Mbanje seems to be the type to quickly want to try things without thinking about it too much." She brushed against his hand, and his hand shied away just a little, before bumping back against hers. Was it intentional?
(Nature: 11)
He was a little distracted... so his normal keen eyes weren't doing their job. But he had a feeling they needed to keep searching for the plant in question. He flicked his ears, trying to listen to running water.
"I think if we find a water source around here, we'll find those flowers... Trying to listen to where there's running water."

When Verdi bumped her hand, Vanya nonchalantly hooked a finger onto one of his - an invitation to see what he would do.
((Nature: 17))
"I think that's a good idea," Vanya said, drawing no attention to the casual touch as she scanned the bushes and ground for flowering plants or vines as they strolled through the jungle. When the ambient light caught her eyes just right, there almost seemed to be a reflective yellow film - like a cat's eyes, with an unsettling faint glow.

Verdi fell quiet, but Vanya could take that as him trying to listen for water, or for her making contact with his hand. It wasn't immediate, but he would understand the sign and gently take her hand.
"Ah... I thought you could see in the dark..?"

Verdi took her hand and she gave him a quick, light squeeze of approval.
"I can. If we can find a water source, we might find some Selune's Tear... it's a blue, tulip-like flower that prefers to flower near swamps." She looked over at Verdi and grinned. "they're symbols of good luck, and have some of the same mystical properties as silver. They can create potions to assist with mental acuity, or be used in certain rituals of divination.
"I've never been out in the jungle at night, so I've never been able to make a go at searching for them before, but Te'Kaal is an almost ideal environment for them."

Then why are you holding my hand... "O-oh." Verdi felt his cheeks flush, as she squeezed his hand and got a better hold onto it. They didn't really know what to do, but they felt like the time they were with Leonard...
Verdi wasn't a touchy person, but being physical with someone you had interest in was... different.
"Well, umn, lucky you, there should be plenty of wet marshes and swamps not too far from camp. I suppose I wouldn't be able to tell what they looked like during the day, hmn?"

Vanya shook her head, continuing to hold Verdi's hand as they walked. "No, they're closed during the day and look very similar to normal plants. What do you think, does it look like there might be a water source nearby? I think you are better than I at picking out such things."

So long as Verdi continued to follow the cracks of branches and the occasional scratch on a tree, the ranger could rest assured knowing that Natasha was leading them toward water. Her nose was quite keen, after all.
With their slower pace, it made it difficult to know just how far ahead she'd gotten. Although, the panther had been instructed to not stray too far.

"Natasha will lead us there." He gestured to some tree marks as they walked. "She is very well trained. I know if we keep walking, we will hit water eventually, what with the river being not that far."
Natasha hadn't made much noise in a bit, but she was doing her job with leading the way. There was some silence between him and Vanya after that.
