My friends,
I hope you will forgive my sudden departure, and the presumption in my salutation, but I believe Valor Company to be the closest thing to true friends my sister and I have encountered in our time above ground, and hope you will understand my… frustration… at having to depart in such a manner.
As you well know, the Gunslingers are mobilizing quickly with the intent to marshal their forces for an operation elsewhere. The Lord Gunslinger has assured me that I do not have a role in this assault - rather, I am to journey to the Black Tower, where I will be given access to their archives to further my study into the aberrant and abhorrent. While he further acknowledged that my experience in Fallen lore and religion will be of great use to them, it seems the danger posed by what has been dubbed the 'Far Realm' could be of greater concern. The little I have been exposed to seems to support this claim.
Although I will be far removed from the front line of this war, I believe my place has never been at the forefront at the battle, but rather to serve as a resource to those who will be directing the fighting. If we of Mobius are to win against the Ruinous Powers, then it is vital our knowledge be spread further and faster than Valor Company can do so alone. While the Gunslingers are a secretive lot, I intend to leverage some contacts in Farondis to ensure that our adversaries lack the veil of secrecy they have thus far enjoyed.
I cannot say that our time together was without regret - I tend to be rather danger-averse, while Valor Company is necessarily danger-inviting - I have enjoyed the experience of travelling with you all. I am eager to hear of your future victories, and of the discoveries young Alastair will make, as his advancement in the arcane arts is, in my opinion, nothing short of prodigious. With some measure of communication restored, I look forward to speaking with you all soon.
This will also be the first prolonged separation between myself and my sister, and I hope you will all take care of her. I know she worries about my safety without her by my side, but I would be remiss if I did not note the horrors I am capable of unleashing should something befall her as well. Similar to how she is softer than her tough exterior would suggest, I am likewise more dangerous than my scholarly demeanor might indicate - and I am aware enough of my own power to be confident in its utilization. I will be fine, but I am entrusting her safety to you all, and to Sae in particular.
I can hear the Gunslingers calling for me now, so I must bring this farewell to a close. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you need me, and thank you for all you have done for my sister and I.
With Deepest Regards,
Ta'ro Kae'lin
