"Indeed, Master Pheuse?" Porter pauses in mid-service, missing Tobias's return and leaving the empty tray sitting before them. They wait for a moment, processing, quietly looking at Pheuse until realizing more information wasn't immediately forthcoming. "Ah, a puzzle then is it, sir?" they ask, interpreting as an invitation to try to work towards the answer. The many moods of Pheuse. This was a critical matter for them, but it was their nature to indulge what they assumed to be Pheuse's whims. They raise a hand to their face mirroring a thinking gesture. The tick, tick, tick of their finger tapping on their chin beats out a rhythm of their thoughts.
"Presumably you've received this information recently, perhaps while Mistress Neuks and I were away? Did information come from the House? No," they answer their own question, shaking their head. "That would be very coincidental, and I believe they similarly think it to be Brynna. If what you say is true, then it would likely be a surprise to them, as well. On the other hand...," they continue, lowering their hand and looking at the palm. They turn their hand over spreading their fingers as though examining them. "...a changeling could appear to be anyone."
They look back and forth between Tobias and Pheuse; they hand drops forgotten by their side. Tobias, and Si. Si who could look like anyone. Si with her strange reaction to Porter repeating Brynna's words. But that couldn't be right. Why do that? And did they both know?

Pheuse looked over to Neuks and shook his head. "No, she's not." He looked to Tobias as he returned. "Tobias likely has more details, but Si is who really rescued you. So bringing that up with Brynna would just cause confusion and more."
He looked towards Tobias. "Care to take over?"

Neuks's eyes widened and she looked at Tobias with whaaaaaaat?! kind of expression, but did not speak. She looked over to Porter, in an attempt to gauge their feelings on the matter (insight: dirty 20).

::reaction::
Porter is surprised and they’re trying to recalibrate to the new information. There’s confusion, directed in part to Pheuse and Tobias, but a surprising amount is directed inward. They’d recently been in conflict with Si, though, so this new information made that entire situation much more complicated than it already was.

"What are we- oh. Right." He looked over at Porter. "Brynna wasn't the one who saved you. It was Si, while she was on the run, wearing Brynna's face. It would be best not to mention your rescue to Brynna, but I'm sure Si would be interested in discussing it. Whenever she gets here.
"...Maybe I should go look for her..."

It takes a moment for the information to sink in, but there seems something about Tobias's directness that cuts through their confusion. "I see. Thank you, Master Tobias, Master Pheuse," Porter nods to them both in turn, "for clarifying. I would be eager to speak with her about it, but will of course not mention it to Brynna."
Noting Tobias's clear concern about Si's absence, though, they turned to Pheuse -- their stance proper and upright as they stares forward and make their oblique request. "Master Pheuse, forgive my rudeness for serving tea before the arrival of Mistress Si. Considering the hour, may I suggest a brisk walk as a diversion, to be followed by a proper meal once we've all returned?" The note of emphasis on "all" is accompanied by a meaningful glance to Tobias, hoping to reassure him that they would help as well.

((Reaction)) "Just 'Tobias' is fine, Porter... I'm not a noble."

Pheuse dipped a bit of his lemon bar into his tea and then ate it. He was silent as the situation was updated. He looked between Tobias and Porter.
His eyes set upon Tobias and he spoke up. "Well, since Si is your sister, you would need a little help assuming she was using a different face. And I can at least keep an eye out for her ring. I would see other people of her unit, but outside of Ket she would be the only one to react to us."
He looked to the others. "Though we are pretty conspicuous as a full group." He shrugged and looked down to the remnant of his lemon bar and tea.

"We could head out in pairs, if that would be better. And maybe Chev can use his sense of smell to track Si." She patted the skele-deer's head, who notably did not have a nose. However, not having natural eyes didn't prevent him from seeing, so... who knows?

Tobias looked less than enthusiastic about going out in force, but Pheuse raised a good point about the rings. That was an incredibly useful ability to have.
His gaze turned to Neuks and Chev. "...If he can catch her scent, I suppose. He's... very conspicuous, though. I don't think we can avoid drawing attention... but then, I don't think there's anyone currently interested in our comings and goings, so I don't think too much caution is needed."
He sighed and rubbed his temples. "We'll need to head to the southwest slums, outside of the city walls. Do you all gave some cheap cloaks? Rough fabric, no embroidery? It'd help us blend in a bit more."

Porter paused a moment, thinking. “I do not, I’m afraid.” Such things seemed more decorative than necessity for them, so they had little otherwise. “But perhaps we could make do, regardless. The workshop,” they offered like they were instead discussing pairing waistcoats and cuff links, “surely has any number of things that might be useful. A liberal coating of dirt and oil, perhaps?”

Pheuse finished his lemon bar and tea before responding.
"I can disguise myself in multiple ways if needed. But I can't really disguise Porter." He said softly. "No clothes in his size"
He looked at each person thoughtfully, trying to piece together a solution. "I just fixed Porter ... I really don't want to go to the ends I would need to make him a fitting scrap heap that would make sense to be following vagabonds into such an area."

"I can change my appearance for about an hour... oh!" She turned to Porter, "some of my clothing would easily be big enough for you to wear, without ristricting your movement or mechanisms!"

Tobias folded his arms as a plan began to come together. "I don't know how downstrodden the slums are in the city, and we don't have time for heavy disguises. Porter, a cloak with a large hood would be enough - maybe a bit of dirt to dull the shine on your face. Baggy clothes are a good idea, Neuks.
"Speaking of, I didn't know you had that ability, Neuks. That's useful... I haven't seen many firbolgs in the city, so if you can appear as something more common when we get there, I think it would help blend in. Pheuse, I don't think you'll have any issues so long as you're more... subdued... than usual.
"We should have everything we need here. The House might have some cloaks the servants use when out and about - we could ask to borrow those. Sound good to everyone?"

Porter nodded in agreement. “Something baggy would be acceptable, but I would hate to damage your garments inadvertently. Perhaps they will have something to spare. Even a blanket with a cloak pin should suffice.”
