Finishing bringing food to Telemon, along with some help gathered since the cloud giant needed quite a bit in comparison to a ground dwelling little person, Konane was heading back to the community building. The night was still young, and she wasn't quite tired yet, despite all the walking and the stress.
With a glance around, it wasn't hard for her to spot Alastair walking away from the steps where he was talking to Alain. She smiled, and would quickly move to him.
"Oh I have wonderful news about Telemon and his keep." She grinned, and glanced to Alain, before looking back to Alastair. "Did you have... a nice chat?"

Alastair sniffed sharply as Konane called him out, turning to face her when she approached. He looked to be in a bit of a daze, and appeared surprised to see her. "Buh- oh. Alain, yeah, we spoke a little. Tip of the iceberg stuff, there's a lot going on but... Yeah it was a good chat"
He tugged his coat and looked her over. "I was, uh, going to talk to the Smith. About borrowing the smithy. What's this about mister Telemon?"

Konane nodded, not surprised Alastair wanted a place to work. "Well, he would like help to get it back. I told him I would discuss it. It is his home, after all, and he should stay in Ferrovax's territory for long. He offered us to ride in it! I... Think that means we can at least travel somewhere in it."

Alastair's brows went high, "Wh- ride in a flying castle? A Cloud Giant's flying castle? That sounds... Incredible, actually." He laughed and glanced into the distance, seeing Ferrovax on his perch. "We've got even more reason to try and fix that problem... As if diffusing the tension between Ferrovax and Telemon wasn't enough." He looked toward Konane.
"I haven't the foggiest idea how we're going to pull it off. But the castle is grounded near the Portal sight... I think Sae and Taliesin have the right of it- we'll need to shut that whole thing down before making big moves. But if we can get that thing into the air, we could air-drop from anywhere with a bit of owl magic and feather fall..."
He tapped his chin before pausing. "... Say. Do you think Telemon might be willing to grant us something of a personal favor? I've got a bud of a idea growing, but it hinges on how well he considers us."

"He said he is in our debt for saving him. I think he would be open for anything reasonable... What did you have in mind?" Konane tilted her head, a curious look on her face.

Alastair lifted his shoulders. "Well, suppose we find and stop the portal interference machine- or wizard or whatever is causing it. If Telemon's Castle is high above the clouds, we might be able to cobble together a functioning portal sigil between the lot of us- like the ones that used to work at the white tower."
He scratched behind his head. "It's a big ask, and predicated on a lot of what-ifs, but... It should be well within the realm of possibility. Though Telemon would have to be cool with giving us what's essentially a key to the back door of his home."

"Oooh... That is a big ask." She rubbed her chin, and shrugged. "But it does not hurt to ask. Maybe tomorrow, after he has rested, we can bring that up." Nodding, she glanced around, and looked back to him.
"So, after all this work, you want to work more? I will walk with you to the forge, then "

"That, or we get his castle back to him and then ask. I'm pushing for the later- people don't trust without results first, and I can imagine giants are even less likely to rush into an agreement. But it might be possible, so there's hope there!" He laughed and moved along the road.
"I'm always keen on working. If my hands aren't doing something, I'm cooped up with too many thoughts and not enough answers." He paused and glanced back. "... It's uh. Stress mitigation, you know?" He smiled and tilted his head.

Konane nodded, smiling as they started to walk. "Everyone deals with stress differently. I... Do not create things. Maybe your method is better than mine. A lot easier to do, too..."
She rubbed her chin, wondering if making salves would reduce stress.

"It's not one size fits all. We're all pretty weird animals." He paused. "People. I mean. Not that you're a weird animal, but I mean, the human condition is-" He shook his head. "What I mean to say is: we all work through our nonsense differently. Some methods work for some- like reading books, going for walks, petting cats or playing games. For others, they need different practices. I knew an elf who would balance on her head for hours- she said it helped the important thoughts settle on top."
He shrugged and looked back to her. "You might find comfort in building. Or cooking, writing... I find making things works best for me though."

Konane blinked some. "Oh, yes. Cooking can be stress reliving. I was... Talking about something else but." She waved her hand dismissively.
"Maybe I should focus more on that, than the other thing." She puffed her cheeks some, folding her arms.
"You... just fiddle with working on projects? There's nothing else you do?"

Alastair blinked a little and slowed his walk. "... I mean, I have hobbies. Or I did before hitting the road- this new hobby of surviving is kind of full time!" He laughed and pinched his chin.
"I'd read, of course. Myths and histories, the occasional alchemists digest- but that's less a hobby and more a focus. I'd cycle in the lyceum town- there's lots of hills that are paved with cobblestone. And occasionally I'd sing. Poorly, mind you."

"I think I would like to hear you sing." Konane smirked, slowing her pace as well. "Your voice is not heavenly, but it is nice to listen to."
She thought some about what else to talk about... Maybe the future? "What... Do you plan on doing after all this? Going back home? Settling down? Or travel some more?"

Alastair actually paused. There was a slight kink in his step, though not quite a stumble. The question left him blinking and thoughtful.
"... Well, I have to head back to the Lyceum, of course. Finish what I started." He tapped his chin. "... it'd make sense to open a smithy. Normally you'd apprentice for a while, but I might be overqualified for that."
He folded his hands behind his back. "... Maybe start something small in a relatively unknown spot. Somewhere quiet, like this. Or... Maybe in Astoria. That's a nice bustling town. Lots of word of mouth..."
He looked skyward. "...I hadn't... Considered continuing my travels..."

Konane nodded, and watched him some as he spoke. "You are not the type to run off and start a family too soon. The boys at home all wanted me to be their wife, I had just turned eighteen." She shook her head, frowning.
