"Ah... who knows. We might... uncover it together." He smiled some, and shrugged. "Adventure does that to you. You have one very nice hike in the local woods, and before you know it, you're signing up to the Hunter's Guild."
Verdi paused, and chuckled some. "Those gathering tasks I think put a spark in you, that you didn't know you had."

Vanya laughed and swayed, briefly touching her shoulder against Verdi's. "Hearing your stories helped, I think. Seeing all that you have accomplished... I suppose I was a little jealous. "

Verdi smiled, always feeling relaxed around Vanya- but now it was... different. "Jealous of me being in danger? Usually people are worried."

"Well you always came back, so the danger was easy to ignore! It was the discovery and excitement I began to yearn for. Despite the costs." She rubbed the side of her head where the rock had struck her.
Her smile faded a little more. "It has been difficult at times, but... I don't know. To say it is worth it trivializes what I've lost, what Edith has lost... but it also feels more... freeing?"

Verdi watched Vanya for a moment, frowning some. "Maybe you have the wanderlust, since you've already left Gilneas behind. Edith, her shop... maybe it was a distraction you didn't know you were giving yourself."

"Mm..." Vanya's gaze turned distant. "You might be right. In... more ways than one."
Vanya bit her lip, pausing before continuing. "In Nyanzaru, in the shop... it was a quiet life, but a part of me craved... more. It... drove me to a certain kind of... excess. When I fed it, it grew quiet, and life grew calm. But every so often, that urge returned, to... to use my power, to... impose my will on others... and now adventuring..."
She drew in a slow breath and looked down. "It has given me another... outlet. I think that may also be why I have accepted this life, dangerous as it is. I get to use more of my power... I get to change the world around me. Dominate it...."
She paused, pursing her lips. She did not like the word, and it seemed to have slipped out without her wanting it to. "Mn. I'm not sure how to describe it. It is... empowering, and exciting... but there is definitely a darker part of me that enjoys it a bit too much..."

"Is it... dangerous? Using your power." Verdi watched her, worry on their face. "Maybe it's... because you're causing... some sort of destruction, but it's not... negative."
He paused, glancing away. "Maybe there is a way to shift your power, Lia seems to know a lot about the Positive energy. Or maybe... there's a way to keep tricking yourself without... losing yourself." Another pause, and they closed their notebook, and set it aside.
"Edith probably has some good points, too. If you haven't already spoken to her. I mean... she's been through it all, and somehow has control of it, despite being what she is."

"No, it is not dangerous. Not... the way you think. It is like... sometimes there is a pressure, and using my power... relieves that pressure. I don't think it has to do with... positive or negative power. It is just..."
She shrugged her shoulders, looking a little... melancholic. Not upset, but not excited either. "It is just who I am. What I am. So long as I keep control over it, ensure I do more good than evil... then I will be fine."

Verdi nodded, thinking, but wasn't sure what else to add. Vanya seemed to have it in control- for now. "Well, if... you need help, somehow, I... I don't know how I can be helpful, but I can try."

Vanya laughed, and her smile turned genuine as she reached over the rest her hand on Verdi's shoulder. "Just... keep being you. That is the most helpful of all."
