Official Interview of Ered Skyne, 18 Lirin 2213
Interview with Ered Skyne.
Cooperative young man in his early twenties, he was with the Flaming Fist for five years. Ered served as an animal trainer for Boscov Driscoll, the head of the Flaming Fist and current fugitive.
Skyne notes that it has been two months since he was in the Flaming Fist Settlement, but he doubts much would have changed. Ered attempted to remain in the city with the Flaming Fist who stayed behind, but admittedly lost his nerve. He joined up with a small band of Flaming Fist planning on heading south, and it was while he was looting for supplies for this trip he was apprehended.
Boscov Driscoll:
Zhentarim member, non-Commission mercenary, thug for hire involved in racketeering, gambling, and the shipment of illegal drugs. A little over three years ago, he returned from a long trip from Aegise and started speaking of a ‘New Plan’. He is a zealot, often preaching about “life, light, destiny, and all that”. It appears many of his men might be true believers.
The New Plan
Driscoll feels that by bringing the Samarian religion of Pelor and Samarian culture to Te’kaal (recreating the settling of Aegise), it will stop the dead from rising. He believes that the Commission enables ‘savages’ and princes to continue to wallow in ‘sin’, and that will cause the dead to swallow the island. Many of the men believe in this plan, many of them are in it for the breeding and poaching scheme.
The Settlement
(map attached)
Location and Structure:
Built in the badlands, the ravines and dunes keep it well hidden. The camp's northern half is built against a large rock face, which also helps hide it well, and the swamp lands far west of it discourages anyone from looking from that way.
Wide, circular, log-walled compound. Living quarters and production houses for the smith's and such on the outer perimeter. Temple is Central south, breeding pens and barns Central west, proving grounds next to it on the east. Driscoll's got a small mansion North of that, from which he oversees everything. Mentions the loading and shipping roads north east are the way he entered through and left during his time there. Also mentions a portion of the south west part of the compound being devoted to land enrichment and food growth. He notes there are several guard towers, but these would be easily spotted with a spyglass. He also notes there may be a secret port, but if there is he is unaware of it.
Occupants (PM Sentient):
At least fifty to sixty Flaming Fist and Zhentarim men. No civilians, so far as he is aware.
Occupants (livestock):
Trained Jaggi (it appears that the mask taken from Arcanist Crosp may have allowed Driscoll more control over them.), Aptonoth, Moofa.
One unknown creature: At adolescence, twice the size of an adult human male. Desert dwelling, with a flat face. Very territorial.
Complications on the way:
-Flaming Fists move south in groups of no more than five in order to avoid Tabaxi patrols
-Once you enter the badlands, the ravines in the sand act like a maze. There are secret markings in the rocks made by older Flaming Fist members to lead the way.
-The Clay-Folk from the sands (Tribal name?) are tabaxi. They often will raid Flaming Fist groups. They can be bought off with food, if aggressive.
-The swamps to the west contain little monsters that Ered described as “seem cute, but they’re dicks”.
I the undersigned attest that this report is complete and true to the best of my abilities, given under neither duress or coersion.
