If anyone wanted a warm, easy meal, Konane had the right one in mind. For everyone, there would be warm white rice, with an egg on top, the yolk not quite cooked, and encouraged to be mixed in with the rice. Taliesin shared that he did have soy sauce before, and Konane couldn't have been happier to be able to use that as a topping for the simple dish.
Alastair had meandered off to the hut he claimed for his own, but Konane would bring him a bowl- whether he liked it or not- a serving platter with two bowls, and some hot tea.
The past few days had been wild. Dream like. A blur. Some resting had happened, but... between resting was a lot of adventure. Excitement. Near death. It was... a lot.
There was so much on her mind, but seeing how Alastair, who was also still somewhat green to adventuring like Konane was, was doing was heavy in her thoughts. Knocking on the door, she simply did that to announce she was coming in- she knew he'd be working on something, and would leave the door unlocked if anyone wanted to bother him before sleep.
"I know you said you did not want any, but I brought you some, and some hot tea- with honey. I am so happy to have honey in my tea..." She gently closed the door behind her, and set the tray down onto the table. "And I do not think we will be sleeping anytime soon. Not... after all that."

Alastair half hopped up as Konane entered the room. Having had his nose in a book, the sudden realization that someone was there had him flummoxed as though he was caught being up to no good. He closed his book, opened it again, closed it and set it aside and then pushed the book to the corner of the desk before turning in his seat to face her. "Whu- Oh, doh, you didn't have to. Thank you- I- but you didn't needto." He laughed apologetically.
"Sleeping? Oh, well... Maybe in an hour or two. I've got jitters- that was... something." He inclined his head. "I've caught myself checking my war wounds. Magical healing leaves, uh... It leaves some pretty weird marks. I mean, I knew that already, but it's kind of wild to see."

"Yes, my shoulder feels... strange from when that creature bit into me." Konane frowned, and picked up the tea and bowl of rice, bringing it over to him. He seemed comfy at the desk.
"I am not sure how it will look. I haven't checked. The magic cloak is not damaged, but..." After handing him the bowl and tea, she pulled her vest, and then her shirt. "It will need mending. I have cleaned the blood from it, at least."
She went back and forth from the table, to the desk, from bringing a chair over to sit by him, to bringing her meal over to eat by him.
"I do not want to be bitten ever again. The pain..." She shook her head, closing her eyes. "I will hide behind Jaeger for every fight."

He pursed his lips and let out a breath before slowly nodding. "That was..." He glanced down. "That was scary. I mean those hounds, the bite, and then you fell, and... ..." He shook his head.
"You're tough, but you looked really roughed. I'm glad we got you patched up." He scooted to the side as she came closer to eat, turning so he could share the space. He took the bowl in his hands and looked it over before placing it down.
"Magic stuff is pretty resilient. Cleaning might not be easy, but I'd be surprised if there's any lasting damage on the cloak. As for hiding behind the doctor, I think that's a fine idea. There's magic that can make it harder to hit you, but it may be best to just not get into the thick of it to begin with- or at least to have a means to get out of the thick of it quick. Do you-"
He paused, catching himself. He then shrugged and pushed the thought out of his head. "Do you want me to take a look at your shoulder? Klinkle's the better medic, but if it's bothering you it warrants at least a glance."

Konane smiled, and gestured to his bowl. "After you have some, I brought you a smaller bowl. It is something that is easy and has a special ingredient."
She started on her bowl, cutting into the yolk and starting to mix it with the rice and soy sauce. "It is called shōyu, but you may heard of it being called soy sauce. It is much tastier than salt."
"But yes, I would like you to inspect my shoulder. Klinkle can get a second look in the morning... It just... Feels weird. Like something broke. But it is no longer broken."

"Show you, huh." He glanced back at the bowl and picked it up, but didn't yet take a bite. "...Odd name for an ingredient. I haven't heard of soy sauce either, I'm afraid. Liore just might be too far south of Otori for that- or maybe just a little too insular when it comes to cooking culture." He shook his head and glanced back to here. "There's a lot about Otori I don't know. Does cooking... I don't know, bring back the good memories?" He tilted his head some.

Konane nodded with a mouth full of food, finding herself more ravenous than she thought. Swallowing, and sighing happily, she nodded again. "Yes, yes it does. This was the first dish I learned to make on my own. It was easy, but it took me some time to learn not to break the yolk."
"There was not much of Otori outside of Otori, so I am not too surprised you do not know what shōyu is." She chuckled, and continued to eat.

He laughed slightly seeing Konane chowing down, talking with half a full mouth. The culture wasn't that different, it seemed. "This was your first dish? Mine was oatmeal." He chuckled. "Bland, but simple."
He took the bowl and took a bite. It was... Not bland per say, but somehow at the same time plain as it was eatable. The soy? Stuff? Caught him a little off guard. "Huh..." He found himself a little lost for a moment. "That's a shame. So far the stuff you've showed us is... really something else."

"The further I find myself away from home, the more I realize Otori keeps to themselves." She shrugged. "It is what it is. I am fine with bringing Otori with me, though. The world needs to taste our food." Konane chuckled.
"Oatmeal... that was some of the breakfast items offered at a few of the inns we stayed at. That seems like rice, but it is much stickier. I liked adding honey to it."
Konane was really chowing down, finding her bowl almost empty. Yes... she was a lot more hungry than she thought. The Otonin finished up the last few bites, and then gestured to Alastair's still mostly full bowl. "You! Eat! It will help you sleep, trust me."

"I ate! I ate! Some..." He laughed as he held his bowl to his chest. Even as he chuckled he did as he told, taking another forkful before turning to continue speaking. "Honestly, I think once the thrill of victory subsides I'll sleep hard. I was trying to burn through some of it with notes and reading. Planning... Sketching prototypes and such." He looked up and around.
"This development of Taliesin's is a huge boon. Being able to think and work without worrying about a stiff breeze cooling my steel, or a sudden rain ruining my woodwork. I can get things done with a place like this. We can rest with a place like this." He took another bite and looked back down.
"And rested minds can think straight."

Konane nodded, smiling and she laughed some. "Yes! Thinking straight is very important. This place is... well, I don't believe it. But it's here. But I do miss the sound of rain while we camp."
She paused, and perked her ears up, snapping her fingers. "The stone! The one you gave to me to calm me when we flew on Griffins! Can you make it sound like rain?"

His brows lifted. "Oh, well I..." He nodded and looked about his desk area. Among the various bits and detritus was the beaten brass cup he'd liberated from Stonebones' stronghold. He simply reached toward it and the bracers he wore responded by shimmering, becoming like liquid. The metal flowed into his palm, reshaping into a tiny jeweler's hammer.
And like it was the most normal thing in the world, Alastair tapped it with the hammer. It produced a resonant, high toned hum that lingered in the air for a dozen or so seconds. Once the sound had dissipated he picked up the jar and handed it to her. "There we are. It should sound like a gentle rainstorm. Though I wonder if Taliesin can make it rain for real..."

Konane's eyes lit up as he did his magic, watching him enchant the cup. "Oh, it can be anything that can make sound?"
She took the offered cup, smiling, and held it up to her keen ear. The fox woman giggled, a yippy sounding laugh, and brought the cup to her lap.
"Oh, if he could make it rain here that would be lovely. But, this will do, and lul me to sleep. Thank you."

Alastair shrugged. "It could be any little thing." He wiggled his fingers. "I'm becoming more flexible with magic. To make something produce noise permanently, forever, would take some specific materials sure. But a little parlor-trick infusion like this, well, any object should do."
He shrugged and took another bite. "Though, I think the cup may help, acoustically. Happy accidents."

Still smiling, she placed the cup on the desk, and watched him eat. Konane looked to her empty bowl, and shook her head, placing it next to the cup on the desk. "I am stressed, I eat too quickly when I am stressed... But it is a good stress. We... actually accomplished what we were set out to do."
Sighing, she went to take her vest off, tossing it to the bed. "Oh... you know what, I don't know if you'll be able to get a good look at that bite with my fur..." She jutted her jaw some, brows furrowed in thought. "Things carry with me, in any of my forms. If I get a paper cut as a human, it will remain on me as a fox."
She wouldn't take her shirt off, not until he was done eating, but she would change forms- a gust of purple leaves would flow around her for a few moments, ears and fur fading, leaving her with her tanned skin and freckles. She wiggled her nose a little, and rubbed it some. "Ah, I have not been human for so long, I forgot what is was like to have no long nose."
