Taliesin watched Mirrai closely as she spoke, trying to glean more from her body language. (Insight - Rolled 2+3=5) He had concerns regarding the implications of her search and they distracted him from reading as deeply as he could.
There was a lengthy pause after her last question. His face was almost stern and his eyes almost seemed to stare through her. "I - "
He sighed and continued. "I can give you whatever time and space you need." He reached down to his mug and turned it in place.
His gaze softened and he looked down to the waves in the mug from his turning. "You mentioned books from Shepherd Drummond, but have you spoken with Ta'ro yet? If you need the other side of the Days of Fury and the fallout ... he is your best bet."

Some of Mirrai's tension eased at Taliesin's change in subject. "I can ask. Although... which one is Ta'ro?"

Taliesin smiled, remembering that she didn't actually know what to look for. Also a little at the fact that she hadn't made the connection based on what he had told her on their travel back to the refuge.
"The dark-skinned male elf that came back with us." He stretched back with a pained groan. "Though, referring to him as a Drow is more accurate." He said in a rather plain tone.
"He is the foremost expert on Change ... at least outside of the Underdark."

"Oh, yes, I remember him now. Things are still a bit... fuzzy. I'll be sure to speak with him at some point. Drow... is that the name of his people, then? And they live in the... Underdark?"

Taliesin brought his eyes back around to look directly at Mirrai. "Yes, Drow is their name. Similar to how those angry dark-dwarves are Duergar."
He wanted to explain the Underdark, but found a description lacking. "It is beneath the land. If I remember correctly the magic of the deities following Change had caused The First City to twist and become part of the Underdark. Though I could be mixing up things."
"A lot has happened and some of it runs together."

Mirrai nodded slowly, thoughtfully. "There's a lot I need to brush up on... I don't exactly want to advertise my ignorance to the world."
Mirrai tapped one of her fingers at the table and looked around the common room, her expression growing pensive before she turned her attention back to Taliesin. "The... entity... you saw. Not the floating skull, the figure, in the robes. Have you ever seen it anywhere else? Would you be able to conjure it's image again if you could?"

A slight smirk curled at the corner of his lips. He was going to comment, but then Mirrai had gone serious again.
He took a deep breath and nodded. "They are in the Rogues Gallery in my glade." He said softly. "I can make the door anywhere. Though it would be better outside than within here."
He remembered how he described it earlier and quickly spoke up. "Alastair called it a demi-plane."

"Oh! You should have said that to begin with - planar sickness doesn't normally apply to demiplanar travel. Those tend to be pockets of a particular reality, rather than a separate plane entirely. That being the case, I think I can safely visit the glade, the next time you open a door to it."

"Oh, yeah. I am really bad at describing things in arcane words." He shook his head at himself and straightened up. "I can do it now."
He reached out and pulled his mug closer to the edge of the table. "We could eat food that is in there as well, if you'd like." He was ready to stand up and go if Mirrai chose to continue on.

"You're able to summon a demiplane and provide edible food?" Mirrai asked, rising after him. "That's an impressive, and incredibly useful, ability."

Taliesin gave a slight shrug and made his way to the dish drop off. He placed the mug down and looked back at Mirrai. "I attribute it to how I got to be this way. I don't even understand some of what I can do. I just ... follow my gut and seem to intuit how to do things."
He looked back to the way out and waited a moment for her to return her mug if she so desired before moving to leave the hall. "I think this time I will make sure Telemon knows where you will be beforehand."

Mirrai returned her mug and grabbed a fresh chunk of bread that had just been set out, as well as a sausage to eat with it along the way.
"Mm, wise. He was quite perturbed at you, from what I understand. He was calmer when I woke up, though admittedly he is a calm giant by nature."

Taliesin led the way out. "Yeah. I know he had promised to protect you and all. I just did not fathom how intense that would be."
He looked around the courtyard to choose a location for the door as well to look for Telemon.

Ferrovax was still lounging in the open area outside of the gathering hall, and Telemon was seated beside him. Telemon sat nearby with his back against the mountainside, humming softly to himself as he whittled at a chunk of wood. He had acquired a sword at some point, but in his massive hands it looked like a simple knife.
"From what I understand, his kind take their oaths very seriously," Mirrai admitted. "I was a guest in his household, and we were attacked... his obligation to me does not end until I am safely removed from the source of danger. I tried to relieve him of the responsibility, but he would not accept it."

Taliesin nodded in response. "I can understand that." A faint color hit his cheeks, but as they were now in the open he was able to pivot some. He stepped forward towards both Telemon and Ferrovax. He gave a wider berth away from Ferrovax. "Telemon ..." He called out.
He observed the giant whittling some wood. Of course, to Taliesin's eyes it was more akin to chiseling based on the size. He bowed to Telemon in greeting after he had his attention. "I will be making a doorway to my glade just over there." He pointed to a sheer face of the mountain wall not far away.
"I will be showing the glade to Mirrai and speaking with her further there. The doorway remains while the glade is present and you are free to enter if you desire." He gave another bow. This felt all kinds of weird, almost like speaking with a father with intentions.
