Pheuse's interest was piqued at the hint of information. "I didn't realize there were changeling communities in Sharn ... " He thought quickly and nodded. "Though I've spent most of my time in the workshops since I got to Sharn."
There was a longer pause before he shook his head. "Afraid not. Anything up the river, Aundair, Eldeen Reaches, and Mror Holds mostly."

Ellie chuckled. "There's communities for everyone - you just need to know where to look. If things go well... who knows. Maybe I'll be compelled to bring you there sometime."
Ellie shifted in place and raised her book once more.

Pheuse made a thoughtful frown and nodded. "Perhaps. I guess that relies on whether I've managed not to annoy you with how readily I will move to help others."
He used his ring again, calling a roll of tinkers tools from the workbench over to him. "So any juicy or interesting information that you can share about your sister, Brynna, or her time with her unit ... outside of the fact that you are responsible for some fallout?"
There was the hint of a pause before he interjected. "Specific to just that. Things that might impact interactions, things that if brought up tangentially might cause an issue. I do enjoy to talk as you no doubt have seen, and I would like to avoid any ... triggering words or concepts ... if it can be avoided."

Ellie didn't answer immediately. It seemed like she was engaged in reading her book, but... in truth, she was staring through it.
"Pheuse... what were you doing, during the Last War?"

Pheuse had retrieved the roll and was pulling out the Tinker's tools when Ellie spoke up. "How long ago was that again?" There was a strange tone to that. His brows furrowed and the tools tapped his seat, drumming up memory.
The beat of the tempo went asynchronous and stopped. "Navigating." Just that answer, no follow-up.

((Insight: 14))
Ellie picked up on Pheuse's sudden caginess, at odds with his normally cheerful demeanor. That was interesting, and a little surprising.
"My sister was a soldier. She served Breland, up until her unit turned on her. I was a... specialist. It's difficult to tell what would be triggering until we're triggered. I'd suggest just... not pressing, if you're met with resistance. Some of us would rather leave the past in the past, and just... focus on the present, you know?
"I guess the war itself is a good subject to avoid."

Pheuse nodded along. His tone shifted back as he responded. "I can understand that. And the war is an easy subject to avoid." He looked down at the tools and twisted them in his fingers.
"So, try to keep any conversation about Brynna's past quashed, got it." He pursed his lips in thought. "I will need to tell Porter to refrain from thanking Brynna in front of Si then. Since his rescue is from around that period if I recall correctly."

Ellie paused, then set her book down on her chest. "...That's... a good idea. Seeing as how apparently Brynna wasn't the one who saved him." She turned her head to look at Pheuse. "That was Si. Apparently. The subject came up during our talk at the cafe."

Pheuse looked up slowly from the tinkering he was about to commit to. "Si ... Si was the one to save Porter ..." There was a small glint to his eyes.
"Yeah ... yeah, we definitely need to broach that subject the moment that Porter returns. Also ..." He looked down at his tools in thought. Where there should have been more said he was strictly struck silent.

Pheuse blinked and looked up towards Ellie. "Also we really need Si to catch up with us so we can get stories lined up and get gushing out of the way where it is safe to."

Ellie grunted her agreement. "You're right about that. Little we can do but sit and wait, I guess. She should be here at some point this afternoon..."
