Ta'ro nodded. "It depends on the nature of the malady. A restorative spell would have no impact on a curse, for example. The confusion your friend is experiencing... it sounds as though it also makes it difficult to tell the exact origin of the confusion, which could affect treatment."
Ta'ro waved a hand dismissively. "I did not mean it in terms of... 'beware what might happen.' My sister tells me that the things I say tend to be more ominous than I intend them.
"Also, as I understand it, many fey species also speak Elvish - it is derived from sylvan, after all. The drow don't have much knowledge on the nature of the connection, though... one of the things we left behind when we went underground."

Taliesin nodded. "The reasoning she gave for the languages she knew implied that it was more than prudent for her to know the languages." He smirked. "And though many Fey species might speak Elvish, the reverse does not seem to be true for Elves speaking Sylvan."
He shrugged again. "It made sense to know Sylvan in the Deep Wood. Every giant tree had its own dryad. And Kel'Alaryn has many. Perhaps there is a connection between descendants and things of that nature. But thousands of years ago for a half-elf with an elven mother to not speak a lick of Elvish ... there had to be a reason of some kind." He closed his eyes and waved his hand dismissively.
"I think at worst the memories unblocking might give her a headache with her mind finally letting her remember things she has been trying to remember." He sighed once more.
"I don't understand why I am worrying so much, or trying so hard. Perhaps it was seeing a bit of my past in a different light. Or maybe it is just part of my desire to always help those in need to prevent anyone feeling like I have." He shrugged again. He opened his mouth, about to say more, but stopped thinking better of it.

Ta'ro rested his elbows on the table and laced his fingers together so that he could rest his chin upon them. "I think it's admirable, to want to save others from the difficulties you've experienced yourself. So long as you respect their wishes in doing so, of course. I have likewise witnessed cruelties perpetuated by my people that I would like to keep others from experiencing...Part of the reason I'm here, I suppose.
"What other languages does she know, out of curiosity?"

Taliesin looked down to one of the books as he tried to recall. "Outside of Common she also know Draconic." He tapped his fingers and looked back up. "And can read Celestial and apparently has a smattering of Primordial under her belt as well."
He watched Ta'ro for a reaction. Especially since Primordial was a language that he thought only ancient beings and wizards knew.

Ta'ro's eyebrows rose. "That is a very strange collection of languages. Sylvan, Draconic, Primordial... those are progenitor languages - the oldest languages of all. Celestial is just as old, although not as widely used. A strange collection indeed..."
Ta'ro leaned back and crossed one leg over the other. "You've stumbled upon a fascinating mystery."

He nodded and hunched forward. "Tell me about it. And to add to the mystery - her father is not from the Feywild or Mobius, but instead from somewhere that recognizes 8 elements. The 4 primary and then 4 secondary: lightning, metal, mist, and wood."
He closed his eyes again. "Of course some more answers may come if I or someone else are successful in recovering her memories." He cut himself from offering more. He half wanted to find Mirrai, but also wasn't necessarily wanting to do the spell now. It would certainly be advantageous to do it and have power back the next day if they were to leave promptly.
As he thought about it he remembered that she had found her way from the front of the party to walk beside him at some point. There was companionable silence and nothing said on that leg of the journey, but now he was thinking about the implications.

"I don't suppose she mentioned what plane that was? As I said, planar physics is not my specialty, but you'd be hard-pressed to find an arcanist who wasn't a little interested in the planes beyond our own."'

Taliesin responded, eyes still closed. "She either was never told, or it is among the memories that are messed up. As far as she recalls and said to me, she has never been."
He let his mind wander and dwell more on the walk back.(17 insight)

Taliesin thought back to the walk, and how Mirrai had held herself back to walk with him. It didn't make sense, unless she truly enjoyed his presence. She certainly hadn't rebuked him beyond asking him to respect her slow approach to regaining her memories.
"Hm... fascinating. I would very much like to know more."

Taliesin opened his eyes and looked back up. "As would I. But that is not likely tonight." He had not deliberately lost Mirrai to get to Ta'ro. It had simply made his finding of Ta'ro easier since he was able to speak openly after a manner.
"If she ever remembers and is willing to share what she knows I'll be sure to keep you and Alain in mind. But in the meantime ..." He looked across the hall and attempted to locate Mirrai if she was there. (Investigation-rolled 15+5=20)

Mirrai was indeed easy enough to find - she was currently in the food line, waiting to get a drink and a meat pie.
"Of course," Ta'ro said, "I appreciate it. And as always, if there's anything more I can do for you, I am at your disposal."

Taliesin turned back and smiled. "I'll keep that in mind. We may need to lean on you through the messaging necklace depending on what we run into further in the Vale. But until then, good luck with your research here." He slowly stood up.
"And thank you for the discussion and insight you were able to provide." He gave a gentle bow of both his body and head to Ta'ro before moving towards the line. He thought about simply joining beside Mirrai, but then thought better of it wanting to avoid any troubles. He simply moved to the back of the line and joined the slow mill forward for food, and hopefully a chance to sit with Mirrai following.
He wasn't sure what they might talk about or if there was anything to even say. However, this was her first night in a city or town since her arrival and he had a feeling it might be a better less lonely night if he were to accompany her for a while.

Ta'ro inclined his head to Taliesin, watching the elf depart before turning back to his books.
After acquiring a meat pie and a mug of warm tea, Mirrai took a seat at a free table near the door, position so that she could see outside. With the food and drink before her, she took a moment to stare down at it, took a cautionary nibble, and then began to devour the food.

Taliesin watched Mirrai grab what she was going to get and followed where she moved to. It took him a minute to get through the line and grab his own food and drink. He had chosen much the same since that made the most sense. And of course, if it didn't taste great, well, he could always conjure more berries.
He left the food and took several steps away before stopping. He looked around the communal area as if genuinely looking for a place to sit before his eyes landed on Mirrai alone. ((Deception 7+3=10))
He smiled and moved around as needed in order to make his way over. As he approached he took note of her choice of seat and wondered if it were a strategic choice, or just for people watching. The thought was interrupted as he spoke. "Want some company?"

Mirrai paused, flakey pastry speckling her mouth and cheeks. She quickly brushed it away and motioned to the seat across from her. "By all means," she said. "The food here is very good - or I'm just starving for something decent. Both, most likely."
