Verdi just blinked a few times at Monte. "I... I am sure she... she was just being..." Friendly? Of course. But now that Leonard pointed it out, Verdi felt awfully foolish. Then again, he didn't really think about her that way until... a few months ago?
"I mean, I can.. I can tell if someone is flirting with me. I... just don't like someone until I've... known them for a while." But was he that dumb? Was he that foolish? Probably. Verdi's tail started coiling and swaying again. "I... I would think if she was, she would be more upfront about it. Like... like you."

Monte folded his arms and watched Verdi long and hard, slowly squinting as he did. "Vidar. Please. Let's be honest with each other here." He sniffed sharply. "...The people who are like me are few and far between, and you and subtle aren't a great fit." He turned his attention back to the path, arms unfolding. "Granted, you know her better than me. What do I know, maybe this woman's as slow to warm up as you are."

They paused, and then quickly caught back up with Monte as they continued to walk. "M-maybe? That... that feels kind of nice if it is."
He paused, and frowned. "I can tell if someone is being subtle..." Verdi now was questioning if that was true. "I.. I mean I thought I could. I just... I don't really engage if someone is flirting with me. It might come off as it going over my head..." Or was there more going on? Did people flirt with Verdi more than he thought? He made a mistake with Ruko, but was Wakanga just being nice or was he flirting? Oh no. Oh no how many people hit on me and I don't even know it?
"... the idea of many people flirting with me on the regular is... disturbing."

Monte cocked a brow. "You're a good looking guy, Vidar. Them. It. You're a good looking Tiefling. And you're soft spoken, intelligent, kind- you love animals. There's a lot to like. I'm sure there's been a lot more people flirting you than you realize." He paused. "Well, those who don't know you well have probably flirted, anyway. Not that you're unapproachable, you just... Like what you like." He nodded and looked ahead.
"... That said, I'm happy for you. I hope things go well with her. She sounds special, and you could use special."

"Ah... I am okay with "he" or "they"..." Verdi paused, and thought about what actions he wanted to take. Monte was an idiot, and so was Verdi. Maybe creatures with male genitalia were just... kinda dumb. Maybe it was a nature thing.
The urge to want to be held again rose. Verdi wasn't really a physical sort of creature, but... Something about a much stronger being just... cradling you felt nice. But he had eyes for Vanya, and Monte is... the past. A very fleeting past.
But, Verdi reached out to take Leonard's hand, his smaller, more slender fingers weaved into his, and he gave it a squeeze. That felt nice. Friends could hold hands, right?
"I don't know if your advice will help, but I think you opened my mind to... maybe being more observant with other folks, rather than my head in the woods."

Monte looked as Verdi reached out and took his hand. He grinned and laughed and gave him a squeeze- and a tug. "Don't give me that, bring it in, nerd." Without much thought to it, Monte wrapped one arm around Verdi's shoulder and pulled the hapless tiefling in for a tight, brief hug. Another squeeze and he let him go.
"My advice is flawless. You keep an eye out, and keep her close. And maybe down the line if you need another heart to heart, you know where to find me."

The grabbing, and pulling them in- Verdi's face grew red, ears up, tail curling and coiling behind him. It was brief, but it was nice. That little bit was all he needed to get that craving out of his system- maybe.
"I-I already... keep her close. She... she has grown to being a dear friend." He bit his lip, and glanced to the side.
Nodding, cheeks still flushed, they gave a little smile. "Thank you..."

The warrior laughed heartily, finally releasing Verdi with a final pat on the shoulder. "Any time, friend. Any time."
There was a long pause that followed. Monte eventually broke the silence. "... So... You mind leading us back to camp? It's dark as hell and my eyes aren't as good as yours out here."
